TAYLOR Swift has revealed her crazy workout routine, which helped her prepare for her global Eras tour.

Each show requires the 33-year-old pop star to sing 40 songs, dance, dive into a hole in the stage and change costumes 16 times in the space of 180 minutes.

In her first in-depth interview in almost four years, the Anti-Hero singer opened up about her extreme measures she took to ensure she was in tip-top shape for the tour.

“I knew this tour was harder than anything I’d ever done before by a long shot,” she told Time, who has named her 2023’s Person of the Year.

The hit singer said she began training six months before the first show.

“Every day, I would run on the treadmill, singing the entire set list out loud,” she said.

When it came to fast songs, like ‘The Man’, she would sprint; for slower songs, like ‘Cardigan’, she would slow down to a gentle jog.

While singing and running simultaneously might sound bizarre, it is actually a very effective way to boost your fitness, according to PT Sarah Campus, the founder of LDN MUMS FITNESS.

She told The Sun: “When singing, you take deep breaths and exercise muscles like the diaphragm, lungs, and abdominal muscles, which can make you fitter.

“Increasing your lung capacity will help improve your overall stamina, and in time, you’ll see that you can run longer distances without feeling so breathless.”

Several studies examining opera singers’ health have shown that singing can benefit heart health and even burn calories.

Sarah, who is currently training for a marathon, claims she, much like Taylor, also sings while she runs.

Not only is singing good for you, but it also makes exercise more enjoyable, she said.

“Naturally, you will be circulating more oxygen as you breathe more, boosting the happy hormones, endorphins and energy levels,” she explained.

Taylor said in the interview that she also incorporated “strength, conditioning, and weights”.

Three months before the tour, Taylor worked relentlessly with choreographer Mandy Moore to learn the dance moves.

The pop star admitted: “Learning choreography is not my strong suit.

“I had three months of dance training to get it in my bones.”

She added: “I wanted to be so over-rehearsed that I could be silly with the fans and not lose my train of thought.”

The star also cut out booze completely before the tour.

“Doing that show with a hangover… I don’t want to know that world,” Taylor said.

Putting on such a huge performance certainly takes a toll on the artist.

She usually performs two or three shows in a row, followed by days off before she hits the stage again.

The star admitted she needs a full day to recover after she finishes a run of shows and that she can “barely speak” or walk afterwards.

“I do not leave my bed except to get food and take it back to my bed and eat it there [for the first day after the shows],” she revealed.

Elsewhere in her Time interview, she discussed her much-scrutinised love life with NFL player Travis Kelce, the Kanye West and Kim Kardashian feud, and the re-recording of her first six albums.

Next year, Taylor will bring her Eras Tour to the UK for 18 sold-out stadium shows, cementing it as the highest-earning tour of all time — and the first to make over $1billion.
