Nikola Jokic, the Denver Nuggets’ star player, has again demonstrated why he is a top contender for the NBA KIA MVP award. Jokic has been performing exceptionally well throughout this season and has garnered praise from fans, other players, and some analysts.

 

In a recent interview with Jamar Murray, the point guard of the Denver Nuggets, on Hoopshype, he said that he believes he and Nikola Jokic make a more muscular duo than several other pairs of star players in the league, including Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo, LeBron James and Anthony Davis, and Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.

 

Murray also expressed confidence in his team, stating that the Denver Nuggets have what it takes to win the championship and become the best team in the league.

“I think we’re the best duo. I think they’re in a bigger market and people have more interest in LeBron and AD in LA, or what Dame and Giannis could be, or what Luka and Kyrie could do. If we’re talking about the best duos in getting the job done and how they play for each other and with each other, I think me and Jokic are undoubtedly number one.” Jamal Murray said during the interview.

Jokic had a shooting percentage of 35.9% from three and 58.3% from the field. He averaged 26.4 points, 12.4 rebounds, 9.0 assists, and 1.4 steals per game. Whenever he possesses the ball, he can score on blocks, run the offense from the elbow, find cutters, extend his game beyond the arc, and handle the ball in transition.

 

If Jokic wins his third MVP award, he will become one of the four players in NBA history to have won the award at least three times. The other three players who have accomplished this feat are Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, and Moses Malone.

 

There are only five players who have won the award more times than this group, including LeBron James (4), Wilt Chamberlain (4), Michael Jordan (5), Bill Russell (5), and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (6).

 

Jokic played a vital role in Denver’s top Western Conference record this year, especially as Murray faced several injuries to his knee, shin, hamstring, and ankle, which limited his playing time to only 59 games.
