Francesa claimed it will be a home run for the Jets if they draft Joe Alt.

Although Mike Francesa won’t be inside the New York Jets draft room, the veteran radio talk show host knows who the gang must not miss out on. Francesa ranted that Notre Dame offensive tackle Joe Alt has to wear the Jets green next season. Otherwise, it would be a massive failure for Robert Saleh and Joe Douglas.

Some of the picks are more or less locked, but it’s still a mystery who the New York Jets will draft at No. 10. The debate is between Georgia tight end Brock Bowers and Joe Alt. While a section of the Jets fans want to see Bowers at MetLife Stadium, Francesa insisted that Alt should be the priority.

[Joe] Alt is probably going to be there for the Jets. If the Jets get the good fortune of Alt being there at 10, if they don’t take him, they should be shot. If Alt’s there, pop the champagne, because that will be a home run. He will be a guy who will be a 10-year starter, maybe a 14-year starter, a multiple-time All-Pro.

According to The Athletic, 6 feet 9 and 321 pounds had an impactful NFL combine in February. He clocked a 5.05-second in the 40-yard dash and finished with 27 reps on the bench press, along with a broad jump of 9 feet, 4 inches.

The offensive line for the New York Jets remains a concern. They must protect Aaron Rodgers to have any success in the upcoming season. Rodgers has entered his forties and might become injury-prone at this point. Hence, Francesa urging the Jets to draft Joe Alt makes sense.

Can the New York Jets draft Joe Alt?

Everything depends on the Tennessee Titans, who hold the No. 7 pick in the draft. Similar to the Jets, the Titans are also strengthening their offensive line. General manager Ran Carthon and new head coach Brian Callahan could focus on selecting Alt as their first pick. If the Titans opt for someone else, then the Jets would receive the opportunity.

The Ringer’s mock draft indicated Alt landing in New York. NBC Sports Connor Rodgers said during the NFL Combine that the only Jets draft Alt will depend on him falling to tenth position. However, if Saleh and Douglas are confident of taking Alt, then they should pray the top quarterbacks (Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, JJ McCarthy, and Drake Maye) all go in the top 10, as most mock drafts indicate.

Wide receivers like Marvin Harrsion Jr., Rome Odunce, and Malik Nabers could all get drafted in the top 10. This is one of the hypotheticals where the Jets draft Alt. Nevertheless, the Jets not only aim to make the playoffs next season but possibly win a Super Bowl. Hence, the addition of Alt could benefit Rodgers in making crucial plays throughout the season.
