Winning back-to-back two Super Bowl rings has made Patrick Mahomes a true successor of the NFL legend Tom Brady— for being the winningest quarterback of all time. Given that, there have been a lot of debates on the four top quarterbacks deserving to be the NFL’s Mount Rushmore, if built hypothetically.

The top candidates include prominent names such as Brady, Joe MontanaJohnny Unitas, and Sammy Baugh. However, the Atlanta Falcons’ new

quarterback says otherwise.

During his recent appearance on Kevin Hart‘s Cold as Balls, Kirk Cousins had a fun revelation when the comedian asked who he considers the Mount Rushmore of the NFL. Though he didn’t forget to miss the seven-time Super Bowl champion along with Peyton Manning and Montana, Cousins gave the fourth spot to today’s unquestionable best quarterback, Mahomes.

That fourth spot…man, you can go from anywhere from Bart Starr, all the way to [Patrick] Mahomes today. Patrick's No. 1. I think it's Patrick, and then there's a little bit of a drop off to everybody else.

Said Kirk Cousins

While Cousins acknowledged there are many quality quarterbacks in the league today, none compares to the legacy the Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback is building. That’s why, when asked who deserves Mount Rushmore’s prominence in today’s time, all he could name was the three-time Super Bowl champion.

How signing Kirk Cousins is a game-changing offseason move for the Falcons

The 2023 season turned out to be the worst quarterback play season for the Atlanta Falcons in franchise history. The Falcons had expectations from Desmond Ridder and Taylor Heinicke to carry out the season, if not as Super Bowl contenders, but at least accomplish a playoff victory. However, unfortunately, they both turned out to be major disappointments.

As a result, the franchise was forced to seek a quarterback that off-season. But right when they searched the free agency market, they found the former Baltimore Ravens star quarterback, who instantly signed a lucrative $180 million contract with the Falcons for three years.

Signing Cousins is considered the best offseason decision by the Falcons, given that he is counted among the top ten quarterbacks in the league. Having him on the roster can make the team a legitimate Super Bowl contender next season.
