Eagles’ Parris Campbell highly confident that Saquon Barkley will prove he’s the NFL’s best RB this season

This offseason, a former New York Giants wide receiver decided to listen to his son while pondering upon his future in the NFL. Long before prospective teams even approached him in the free agency, little Kia Campbell had asked him to join his favorite team– the Philadelphia Eagles. And so Parris Campbell did.

The choice of course wasn’t a big dilemma for him, since his teammate from the Giants– Saquon Barkley had already signed with the Eagles. After everything that happened with the Eagles’ sudden collapse by the end of the 2023 regular season, the franchise handed over the ropes in the hands of new coordinator Kellen Moore.

On Saturday, during a promotional event for LEGOLAND New York for its Pros of Play Day, Campbell had an elaborate chat with Inquirer. While talking about how the receiver ended with the Eagles, Campbell expressed his faith in Barkley, saying he has the potential to keep rising in Philly, in the offense led by Jalen Hurts.

I think he’s going to show people why he’s the best ru
nning back in the league. Being able to see Saquon up close and personal, being in the same locker room, on the same team, man, he’s a different guy when he’s on that field, honestly. And running behind that offensive line that we have, I think it’s going to be pretty scary for defenses.

Campbell also acknowledged the open comparison between Barkley and Christian McCaffrey, admitting that the latter is, for sure, one of the best running backs in the NFL. However, when it comes to dominating the entire football field, Barkley can hardly be competed, especially now with his pairing with quarterback Hurts.

Parris Campbell’s contract details with the Eagles

After spending his last season with the Giants, Campbell officially signed with the Eagles a couple of weeks ago, as a free agent. The receiver has signed a one-year contract deal, as reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Under new coordinator Moore, Campbell has now become part of a solid receiving corps of A.J. BrownDeVonta Smith, and the newly signed DeVante Parker. Having the former two as the best option for the quarterback in the passing game, Philly intends to do a makeover with the latter two, Campbell and Parker.

Perhaps, Campbell would get an opportunity to establish himself among the top receivers of the league– something he failed to do in New York. Right now, he joins at best as the third or fourth receiver in the team.
