Nick Wright‘s love for the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is no secret. He never shies away from expressing his admiration for the Chiefs QB. In his latest take on the show First Things First, Wright claimed that Mahomes is still unchallenged as no one is in view to take his position presently.

After last season’s Super Bowl win, the age-old debate reemerged that Patrick Mahomes is the greatest quarterback in the league’s history. His name was uttered by Wright in the same bracket as the legendary quarterbacks, Peyton Manning and Tom Brady.

However, a counter-debate also has emerged that if anyone could stop Mahomes in the coming time, then it would be CJ Stroud. The rookie quarterback had a fantastic season with 23 touchdowns and five interceptions in 2023-24. In addition, he had more than 4,000 yards in passing. With the following stats, the Houston Texans QB has emerged as a strong competitor to the Chiefs signal-caller.

Nevertheless, Nick Wright has clearly tossed the theory right away, as he feels that CJ Stroud is not in a position to challenge Mahomes and his legacy. Despite having a fantastic rookie season, Wright believes that the QB is not in a position to take on Mahomes in the coming time. He also considered Mahomes to be a blend of both Tom Brady and Peyton Manning.

There are no challengers (on CJ being the possible contendor to Mahomes). Here is the deal. I said it before and I will say it again, nobody gets to be Tom Brady or Peyton Manning when Patrick is both of them.

Nick Wright said

Patrick Mahomes is superior to top four quarterbacks ‘combined’, believes Wright

In his show, Wright was making a comparison between Patrick Mahomes and four other quarterbacks, Lamar JacksonJosh Allen, Joe Burrow, and C.J. Stroud. All of them come close to Mahomes in terms of their ability. Showing numbers, the analyst noted that Mahomes is a better quarterback than all of these four QBs combined. There is not a single position where Mahomes can be overtaken, as per Wright.

I know everyone wants to put all four of the guys together. Combine them to one Captain Planet-esque Frankenstein monster quarterback and still trailing Mahomes in everything but MVPs. Lamar is carrying that load heavily.

Nick Wright added

In addition to individual numbers, Mahomes enjoys supremacy over the total number of wins. Apart from Burrow, no one shares a winning record against him. CJ Stroud has not faced Mahomes yet. But in the coming season, if the Houston Texans face the Kansas City Chiefs, then Stroud will have a litmus test against both Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs offense
