Looks like when it comes to defensive players, Aaron Donald doesn’t see past the Pittsburgh Steelers star pass-rusher– TJ Watt. Well, the man honored with NFL Defensive Player of the Year thrice in his career sure knows one or two things about the position.

It wasn’t too long ago when the newly retired Donald expressed his displeasure with how Watt had been robbed of the Defensive Player of the Year award a couple of times. And now when asked who he considers defensive prowess in the industry after him, he proudly endorsed the name of All-Pro Steelers outside linebacker.

The legendary defensive tackle touched upon several topics during his recent appearance on ‘The Green Light with Chris Long’ podcast.

I think it's T.J. Watt. You talk about a guy that's consistent. Been doing it year in, year out, consistently, that's gonna get you 15 sacks, 13 sacks, 22 sacks, consistent. He's the guy who's been doing it consistently, interceptions, touchdowns, His stats are ridiculous every single year. He's that guy to me.

Aaron Donald said

Although Donald acknowledged the other rising players such as Micah Parsons and Myles Garrett, he refused to compare Watt’s prominence with them, saying he has been the most consistent and dominating defensive player throughout his career.

Aaron Donald applauded the Watt brothers’ impact on the NFL

While making a case for TJ Watt as the best defensive player, the ten-time Pro Bowler couldn’t help but mention his brother, JJ Watt’s legacy as a defensive player. Given, besides Lawrance Taylor, Donald and JJ are the only two players to be honored with the DPOY award three times.

Those two brothers are like top-tier guys, like that's special. That's different.

Aaron Donald hailed the Watt brothers

In fact, just a few months ago, JJ had made a case for his brother to win the DPOY for leading the league in sacks three times.

However, the title was honored to the formidable defensive end for the Cleveland Browns– Garrett. Despite dominating the league several times, TJ has been rewarded with the DPOY title only once, in 2021.
