Draymond Green needs to keep his physicality in check for the Golden State Warriors to have a successful playoff run.
The Golden State Warriors took on the Miami Heat tonight. In their quest to ascend the playoff ladder, they knew they would face intense competition. But it should not have been that high for Draymond Green to resort to his unruly tactics, shocking basketball fans in the process.
Just 9 minutes into the first quarter, the Miami Heat inbounded the ball. Heat guard Patty Mills moved through screens ending up guarding Draymond Green. The Golden State Warriors superstar tried to spin around Mills to get back to the defensive position beneath the rim. Only to wrap his arm around Mills’ neck and seemingly throw him to the ground. Consequently, the referees instantly called a foul on the defensive stalwart and went for a video review.
Green used the full force of his left arm to drag Mills, as he tried to get to the basket. The former defensive player of the year indicated to the referees, that his arm was caught up. Instead, reviews showed that he did not try to move his arm away.
It is possible that the referees thought that Green could not move his arm away. The referees deemed it to be a normal foul. Usually, nothing less than a flagrant foul is expected in such a circumstance. The Warriors went on to win the game 113-92 against the injury-depleted Heat.
Fans shocked at Draymond Green’s continued use of physicality
Not long ago, the 4-time champion was suspended for several games. His tendency to resort to aggressive physicality has been the subject of debate for the past few years. After undergoing therapy, many expected him to avoid such types of antics. After all, the purpose of suspension and therapy is to directly suggest that he has to stop.
Therefore, fans are in shock as he resorted to unruly play so early in a game. It hinted at an embedded nature of his character. Fans discussed this incident on social media.
Draymond Green needs to get his act together if the Golden State Warriors are to have a successful run in the playoffs. As was evident during his suspension, the Warriors don’t fare well with him out.
