Stephen Curry was out at the start of the fourth quarter as the Warriors were losing against the Timberwolves.
Gilbert Arenas hilariously reacts to Steve Kerr defending Steph Curry’s limited playing minutes
The Golden State Warriors head coach, Steve Kerr, was recently in hot water after he limited the playing minutes of the star player Stephen Curry. It happened against the Minnesota Timberwolves in a game that they lost. The team is currently the 10th seed in the Western Conference, which makes it essential for them to win every game they play.
In the post-game press conference, Steve Kerr defended his decision by saying he did not want to rely on Curry to win. He believed that other good players on the team could get the job done. Kerr’s failed decision received a lot of reactions, including those of former NBA player Gilbert Arenas. This is what Arenas said:
Obviously, I f*cked up. I should've put him [Curry] in earlier... Is that what you want me to say? I can’t count on none of them.Gilbert Arenas via Gil’s Arena
On Gil’s Arena, Gilbert mocked the Warriors team claiming the only good players were Curry and Draymond Green. The former athlete even blasted the reporter for asking a question to which Kerr could not give an honest answer.
Arenas defended Kerr for believing in the players as he kept Stephen Curry on the sideline. The 42-year-old believed that Kerr regretted his own decision of not playing Curry and relying on others. The host answered on behalf of Kerr.
None of the Warriors players even came close to scoring 20 points against the Timberwolves. On the other hand, despite only playing for 30 minutes, Curry scored the highest number of points in the game, including both teams. The star had 31 points, four rebounds, and three assists. After learning the stats, Gilbert’s perspective may not seem as far-fetched.
Stephen Curry was surprised after Steve Kerr benched him
The Golden State Warriors had the lead while entering the fourth quarter against the Timberwolves. HC Kerr decided to start Curry late in the quarter. Curry’s absence resulted in the Timberwolves going on a 19-8 run and winning the game. The NBA world and Warriors fans were furious at Kerr and blamed the loss on his decision.
In the post-game press conference, Curry reacted to Kerr limiting his minutes while the team was losing. This is what the star said:
So, a little bit, knowing that they were just going on a run. The lead was kind of whittling away. So, played the whole fourth quarter against Indiana, didn’t work out. This didn’t work out. So we gotta find somewhere in the middle.Steph Curry via post-game interview
As Curry mentioned, the player played the entire fourth quarter against the Indiana Pacers, but the team still lost the game. The team needs a new strategy to overcome their struggles. Therefore, Kerr wanted to save the 36-year-old’s energy, which may have been useful in the final minutes, but the strategy unfortunately did not work out.
