When Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon hit theaters on December 15th 2023, it did not receive a lot of positive responses from critics and audiences.
Subsequently, its premier on Netflix changed its fortunes tremendously with fans lapping it up and praising Snyder’s unique directorial touches.

The filmmaker’s movies are also famously known to be rated R owing to the language, violence, and certain emotionally mature content that is depicted in them.
This stands true for his stint in the DCEU as well as outside of it in films like 300 and Watchmen.
In addition, Snyder is also known for his popular director cuts that have given audiences a glimpse into his vast creativity. In trademark style, the Man of Steel director will release an extended cut of Rebel Moon to the delight of his fans.
Originally slated to to stream on Netflix in the middle of 2024, the project is now being further delayed mainly owing to the director wanting to ensure that the film will stay true to his promise of an R rating according to sources on X.
Further information reveals that the film which was rated NC-17, is now rated R after Snyder’s efforts to rework a few aspects of the narrative.
The movie is expected to release in the latter half of summer 2024. With Netflix backing the director to present a fully unadulterated version of his passion project, fans will be eagerly waiting for what’s in store.

Zack Snyder wanted to adapt Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns to the big screen
In an recent interview with Joe Rogan via the University of JRE, Snyder spoke of his love for Frank Miller’s graphic novel The Dark Knight Returns which is part of the Elseworlds Universe.
The 300 director who had a deep wish to cinematically adapt this book, unfortunately did not get the opportunity to do so during his time with DC.
”I was a Frank Miller fan for a long time, right? And I thought that I would do The Dark Knight Returns. Frankly, that was the movie that I wanted to, and I still want to do it. I always tell everyone that if I could do The Dark Knight Returns, I’d be done with comic book movies.”
The Dark Knight Returns takes place in an alternate universe where a middle-aged Bruce Wayne comes out of retirement and resumes his vigilante work in a deteriorating Gotham city ravaged by the Cold War. This narrative which looks to be right up Snyder’s alley, is still dream that fans hope he may one day achieve.
