Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift have been the romance we never knew we needed. But there has been a question on everyone’s mind since the day the singer was pictured cheering him on from the family & friends suite at a Chiefs game: how exactly did this happen?

Being two young and attractive singles, it’s not hard to imagine how they struck up a connection, but how does a global pop sensation who is currently touring the world run into a Kansas-based NFL star?

Well, in a new interview, Kelce has revealed everything we wanted to know.

Speaking to the Wall Street Journal, the pro-athlete opened up about how he crossed paths with Swift when her Eras Tour landed in his hometown.

Where he initially revealed on his New Heights podcast that he had made the singer a bracelet with his number on it and tried (and sadly, failed) to get it to her, he now explains that he had a mystery matchmaker on his side.

“There were definitely people she knew that knew who I was, in her corner [who said]: ‘Yo! Did you know he was coming?’ I had somebody playing Cupid,” he said, a fact he only found out through Swift later after she texted him.

I“She told me exactly what was going on and how I got lucky enough to get her to reach out.”

A small ‘invisible string’ they held broke the ice, though. “She’ll probably hate me for saying this,” he quipped, “But when she came to Arrowhead, they gave her the big locker room as a dressing room, and her little cousins were taking pictures…in front of my locker,” he told the magazine.

The couple eventually met up on the East Coast, where Kelce admitted he didn’t want to get carried away with expectations—a fellow hopeless romantic, we see.

“When I met her in New York, we had already kind of been talking, so I knew we could have a nice dinner and, like, a conversation, and what goes from there will go from there,” he said.

Fast-forward a couple of months, and Kelce, 34, and Swift, 33, have only gotten more serious, with Swift already having been to four Chiefs games at Arrowhead Stadium.

The songstress has also been seen getting close with Kelce’s circle, including his mother, Donna, and Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

The footballer returned the support, having just flown to Argentina to watch his girlfriend perform in Buenos Aires.

During the concert, Swift playfully changed the lyrics of her song ‘Karma’ to include a nod to Kelce’s presence. Instead of singing, “Karma is a guy on the screen coming straight home to me,” she sang, “Karma is the guy on the Chiefs coming straight home to me.”

Kelce, who was standing with Swift’s dad in the crowd, was filmed reacting like a loved-up schoolgirl to the mention, and the video has since gone viral.

“He’s happier than I’ve seen him in a long time…. God bless him, he shot for the stars!” his mother gushed to WSJ magazine.

And his mother isn’t the only one gushing, as Kelce, who is revered as one of the greatest tight ends in the world, remains in awe of Swift and how gracefully she handles her fame.

“Obviously, I’ve never dated anyone with that kind of aura about them…. I’ve never dealt with it,” Kelce said. “But at the same time, I’m not running away from any of it….

The scrutiny she gets, how much she has a magnifying glass on her, every single day, paparazzi outside her house, outside every restaurant she goes to, after every flight she gets off, and she’s just living, enjoying life. When she acts like that I better not be the one acting all strange.”
