RIHANNA has reportedly pulled out of performing at Lollapalooza Colombia over fears about the Zika virus.

The Work singer was due to headline the festival but decided against it just weeks before the concert.

Festival organisers had to cancel the two day event after they were unable to find another headliner to take her spot.

While they didn’t name Rihanna as the reason behind the cancellation, Colombian news outlet La Tecera identified the star as the musician who pulled out.

A statement from organisers read: “The organizers wish to express their deep appreciation to all the fans who supposed the festival since day one, as well as the sponsors and the media partners.”

This was the first time the Lollapalooza festival was due to take place in Colombia on September 17th and 18th and other acts on the line-up included Lana Del Rey and Wiz Kalifa.

Festival goers who had purchased tickets would all be given full refunds, organisers said.

The Zika virus is a mosquito-spread virus linked to brain defects in newborn babies and is considered especially dangerous for pregnant women.

Despite the World Health Organisation stating that Zika posed a ‘very low risk’ to participants of the upcoming Olympic Games in Rio, many sports stars have pulled out of representing their countries and decided not to compete due to health fears.

Rihanna, 28, is currently in the middle of the Europe leg of her Anti World Tour and will be performing in Sweden on Monday before heading to Denmark.

She performed at Wembley Arena last week and has since been spotted on a number of dates with Drake.

The rapper recently had a fling with model Hailey Baldwin but sources revealed he has always wanted to rekindle his romance with Rihanna.

A source told People magazine: “Hailey was a fling, but Drake has always wanted to make things work with Rihanna.
“They are still dating. Things get more serious when they’re in the same place.”

They were first linked together back in 2009 and he was a surprise guest at her concert in Manchester last week.
