In a 2022 interview, Fisher was asked about the nature of her relationship with Baron Cohen, particularly the secret to having a long relationship in Hollywood. In response, Fisher said (via The Mirror):

“I wish I had an answer. Like all parents of small children, I am doing my best to keep my kids anonymous and have as normal a life as possible. And like all wives and husbands, who travel for work, we try to do date nights. I do my best.”

Fisher added that she found Baron Cohen the funniest person in the world and also revealed that she shared a good friendship with her husband.

Fisher noted that friendship is the foundation for every good and long-lasting relationship. While Fisher abstained from advising others, she stated:

Nearly eighteen months after her heartwarming comments, Isla Fisher is set to part ways with her long-time husband. In April 2024, Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen took to social media to announce their separation and revealed they had already filed for divorce.

“After a long tennis match lasting over twenty years, we are finally putting our racquets down. In 2023 we jointly filed to end our marriage.”

Fisher and Baron Cohen made the above statement in a story posted on their personal Instagram accounts. The soon-to-divorce couple also stated they wanted to give their children time to adapt to the change before going public with the news of the separation.

However, Fisher and Baron Cohen did not state a reason for their separation at the time. According to a report, the duo’s divorce is unrelated to Baron Cohen’s current controversy with actress Rebel Wilson.

A source stated that the couple had been estranged for almost a year and another revealed they had explored a possible split years prior to the announcement.
