Hugh Jackman says Heath Ledger would have been a good Wolverine

During the press tour for “X-Men: Days of Future Past” in 2014, Hugh Jackman, along with his co-stars Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy, engaged in some Mutant-related banter with Yahoo! Movies UK. Among the questions was who Jackman thought would make a good Wolverine if he weren’t playing the character.

Initially jokingly suggesting Will Ferrell, Jackman then revealed his serious choice, Heath Ledger. He believed Ledger could have portrayed a young version of Wolverine, expressing admiration for the late actor’s talent.

However, Jackman acknowledged the inevitability of someone else eventually taking on the iconic role, albeit admitting it would feel strange.

Fast forward to the present, Jackman is set to revisit the role in Marvel Studios’ “Deadpool 3” alongside Ryan Reynolds. Ledger, known for his remarkable performances, particularly as the Joker in “The Dark Knight,” tragically passed away in 2008 at the age of 28. Despite his untimely death, Ledger’s legacy continues to resonate deeply with audiences worldwide.

As for Jackman, it seems Hollywood isn’t finished with him yet, as he gears up for another round as Wolverine. “Deadpool 3” is scheduled to hit theaters on July 26, 2024.
