Mindy Kaling ADDRESSES alleged ‘falling out’ with her ex and children’s godfather B.J. Novak

 

Mindy Kaling addressed the alleged ‘falling out’ between herself and her ex-boyfriend B.J. Novak, whom she remained close with after they dated on/off between 2005-2013.

‘I think it has something to do with social media activity or lack thereof between Mindy and B.J. It’s just like the fans noticing. So I reached out and I asked someone, and they said they heard they had a falling out,’ the Deux U podcast claimed last Thursday.

‘I asked this person if they knew why, and they said, “No clue what’s it about except that she apparently initiated it, thinking that he would re-engage and apologize or make amends for whatever it was.” And apparently, she was shocked when he, instead was like, “Yeah no, I agree. We need some distance and this isn’t a good thing anymore.”

‘To which I have to say, Mindy Kaling, you are better than this. I don’t like this. I don’t like the way he treats her. I hear a lot about B.J. Novak he’s a little bit of a playboy. To me, that signals how he treats women in general, whether that be a romantic interest or a friend like Mindy.’

Last Friday, the 44-year-old Morning Show actress (sarcastically) commented on DeuxMoi’s Instagram post: ‘Omg i haaate him so much.’

Mindy (born Vera Chokalingam) and the 44-year-old Lessons in Chemistry actor were last publicly spotted together at the WeHo members-only club, San Vincente Bungelows, on October 11.

Kaling and Novak famously wrote and starred as Dunder Mifflin love interests Kelly Kapoor and Ryan Howard on NBC’s mockumentary sitcom The Office, which aired for nine seasons spanning 2005-2013.

Greg Daniels’ critically-acclaimed show was a remake of BBC Two’s iconic series of the same name co-created by and starring Ricky Gervais, which aired for two seasons spanning 2002-2003.

‘We were in love with each other, and we were reckless idiots, and the two of us would argue about all of these things forever [in the writers room],’ B.J. (born Benjamin Joseph) recalled onstage the PGAs a year ago.

The five-time Emmy nominee also described their romance as ‘tumultuous, romantic, toxic, boundary-less mess’ before presenting the six-time Emmy nominee with the Norman Lear Achievement Award.

‘He’s remained my closest friend throughout my entire career. He’s seen all the ups and downs, and it just means the world to me,’ Mindy gushed onstage.

‘I am so lucky that my favorite writer is also my best friend. I love you.’

And it isn’t just friendship as Novak also happens to be the godfather of Kaling’s six-year-old daughter Katherine Swati Kaling and three-year-old son Spencer Avu Kaling.

Mindy is currently hard at work writing and executive producing her 10-episode untitled basketball comedy for Netflix, which began shooting in Los Angeles this month.

Oscar nominee Kate Hudson executive produces and stars as the ‘ambitious and often overlooked’ LA Waves owner Isla Gordon in the sporty series, which will also feature Brenda Song and Chet Hanks.

Kaling will reprise her voiceover role as teen detective Velma Dinkley in the second season of her and Charlie Grandy’s dismally-reviewed adult animated mystery series Velma, which premieres later this year on Max.

The third season of the National Medal of Arts winner and co-creator Justin Noble’s critically-acclaimed half-hour dramedy The Sex Lives of College Girls will most likely premiere this November on Max.
