17 years after Titans sued cornerback Pacman Jones, Eagles admit knowing about Lane Johnson’s ‘risky’ plan to appear in WrestleMania 40

Despite knowing the history of the NFL– everything that happened with cornerback Pacman Jones following his participation in pro wrestling, the Philadelphia Eagles’ Lane Johnson made a risky decision with his appearance in WrestleMania 40.

But Johnson has one crucial thing that Jones lacked–his team’s support. 17 years ago, when the Tennessee Titans suspended the cornerback for one year for violating the NFL’s Personal Conduct Policy, he tried his hands on pro wrestling, but the franchise wasn’t in sync with his decision. So, they sued him and even won.

Fortunately, that’s not the case with the Philly’s tackle Johnson. When he made an athletic appearance at Night 1 of WrestleMania on Saturday, the Eagles were not surprised at all, as they were aware of Johnson’s planned participation as per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

He was accompanied by newly retired Jason Kelce, who had a special invitation for the WWE’s biggest championship competition. In fact, in the video shared by WWE official X handle, the future Hall of Famer handled all the physical activities, while his former teammate, Johnson, who is still in contract with the Eagles, cheered and hardly picked up a chair.

So, there was no need to pursue legal action further. Johnson initially approached the Eagles about appearing at a WWE event before proceeding with his plan. Additionally, it’s unlikely that the Eagles’ tackle will step into the ring again anytime soon.

NFL stars Jason Kelce and Lane Johnson’s cameo steals the show at WrestleMania

On night 1 of the prominent WrestleMania 40, fans were truly hooked by the solid fight between Rey Mysterio and Andrade with Santos Escobar and Dominik Mysterio. But in the middle of the fight, something happened that shocked both the WWE and NFL universe.

Philly’s two biggest stars wearing chunky WWE made a surprise appearance, as they jumped from the stands into the ring shuffle to help Rey. Kelce grabbed Dominik and rapped him on the corner pole of the ring.

Having Kelce and Johnson to support, Rey and Andrade won the match, and that’s when the NFL stars revealed their faces by taking off their mask. It was truly a memorable fight with its fans on a rollercoaster of emotions throughout.
